What is Satori Synthesis?
Satori – (Japanese: 悟り) is a Japanese Buddhist term for “awakening”, “comprehension; understanding”. The word derives from the Japanese verb satoru. The inner, intuitive experience of Enlightenment; Satori is said to be unexplainable, indescribable, and unintelligible by reason and logic. It is comparable to the experience undergone by Gautama Buddha when he sat under the Bo tree and, as such, is the central Zen goal.
Synthesis – the combination of components or elements to form a connected whole. “the synthesis of intellect and emotion in his work”
Our business philosophy is based on the teaching of Zen Buddhism. We aim to create new bespoke sounds which define the enlightenment of Sound.
Satori Synthesis is run by Steve, I am an electronics / electrical engineer with 35 years in a range of diverse hi-tech industries from semiconductors, LED displays and fuel cells.
I can mostly be found designing and building my own Eurorack modules or modifying vintage drum machines for personnel use.
We operate out of “Synthia” our custom build Studio and Workshop.
An unhealthy obsession with all things analogue noise making machines.
What we offer
We offer the following services
Bespoke Sound– Design and build a custom standalone or Euro rack module. Find that unique sound or filter. We can design from scratch or from our brief.
Equipment Sales – We have a fully stocked studio full of equipment. We will typically list some of our items for sale to create space for more equipment. Some will be modified or repaired.
Analogue Modification – All analogue synthetisers equipment modification. Only pre-1980s analogue equipment only.
Analogue Electronics repair – All analogue synthetisers & equipment repair. Only pre-1980s analogue equipment only. Simple repairs to full restorations. Amplifiers, speakers or effects units all repaired. Typically on a no fix no fee basis.
Drum Machines Repairs & Upgrades– Vast experience of analogue drum machines. Conversion to accept CV Gate Triggers or MIDI conversions. Only Analogue sound generated drum voice machines.
DIY Builds – Skilled assembly of Kit based eurorack or kits etc. If you lack the skills, time or equipment we can build it for you.
Educational – I am firm believer in education. I am happy to teach others in electronics, soldering or sound synthesis equipment. Come a play in out Studio and Workshop. Get in contact to discuss anything you might be interested in learning
Our aim is NOT to sell off the shelf modules or equipment BUT to reuse, repair, resurrect, repurpose old equipment and give it a new lease of life.
We will create novel and bespoke instruments or equipment but they are not mass produced.
